Hello anyone with a 1.5 dCI. Since buying mine a couple of weeks ago, I've read hundreds of posts about how to stop smoking and get the dCi going again. Know what I mean?
My regular mechanic - Peter - and I have been wrestling with how to fix what seems to be a common problem of the 1.5 dCi; effectively over-fuelling which causes engine pinking; loads of black smoke; poor performance; and bad starting when warm. Most people seem to go straight to the EGR and de-coke it, then wonder why there's little improvement.:dapprove:
WELL - we've now fixed my motor and it's running sweet as a nut (300 mls since the 'fix'). Guess what Peter did - he changed the brake pedal stop light switch!!!!! Honestly - a tenner. Must have wasted more than that in unburnt diesel in one day, before. So how does that work then? I really don't know, but I'm sure there might be other dCi'ers desperate to try this and I sincerely hope you're cured. Best of luck.
