1.6 16v Owners.

Ok so i am looking into probably getting a Clio 1.6 16v dynamique or a new shape saxo VTS. What is the performance of the clio like? is it easy to gain a few extra bhp with exhaust, induction and chip?

Also what sort of spec/features does the car have like electric sunroof? or what else.

So would you recommend the car over a VTS?

Cheers Phil

If youre looking for performance then youve got to go for the VTS. The VTS is also dead handy for cheap and effective breathing modifications. Only problem with it is that its a Saxo!

The 1.6 16v Clio is a nice car, but not especially quick and def. not as quick as a VTS.

Performance wise the the clio is more comparable to the vtr then the vts only having the edge above about 50mph. The vts will easily outdo the clio. Personal opinion of course id say the clio is more refined has a far better interior. My clio came with electric sunroof, cd player, air conditioning(not to be confused with climate control) and metalic paint. It does 0-60 in a book time of 9.6 although someone on here did a timed run of 8.5(must have had the wind begind him). Its much more of a sleeper then the vtr/s. Someone on here had one tuned to 140bhp but that was more then chip exhaust e.t.c. Super 1600 tuned to 220bhp or someother high figure.

Dont pay over £9000 for one though

1.6 = 110 bhp with a exhaust chip and induction sys i rekon itll get to arouns 130 if ya lucky.

i love my 1.6 though so im biased, i think its much nicer than the saxo.

yeah i can believe that i guess... i mean its just ktec marketing their products init, they always exagerate, although i think the use of a ramcharger induction kit on mine made a noticeable difference from start IMO. I know exhaust and induction wont make an awful difference. But i thought the chip would make significant difference...

Im not to sure, I like the idea of the performance of the VTS but as someone said the clio is more refined. The price of them might have to be the deciding factor as you can get a W-Y reg new shape saxo with 25kish on the clock for about £5k. Whereas the clios seem much dearer second hand seeing as you can buy a brand new one for £8600.

Mmm decisions decisions.

filter chip and ik - around 10bhp max IMHO

ram-charger makes sod all difference, you dont get up to the speed required to make it useful

IMHO the VTS is a better buy thank the Clio, but you get more for your money with the Clio

bambam im confused, i thougth ram charger was just the name of the induction kit....whats all that about not getting up to speed to make it useful??

u can pay so much money for a chip its unfortunate the performance gains arent relative to the price.

Clio novice....The clio looks better than the VTS imo. ...but u know what, i think asking which is better on a clio forum might b a little 1 sided, mayb u shud ask on a saxo forum too.
