1.6 modded and non modded

was wondering what speed you can get out of 2nd gear and what rpm?

please state whether you are not modded please, vice versa

thanks alot need to know how my progress is going and my ratios are.

I think my max revs are 6700ish at about 57mph.

bounce off the limit at 58/59mph at 5800 rpm, mines the 1.6 8v tho

6250rpm is about 57 indicated, won't take it to the limited as i'm too much of a girl. Not modded (yet).

o yeh they do an older 8v valve to, slipped my mind. ^^^ interesting as the other guy got 57 at 6700 you must have one of the lucky ones. are you lot starting from 0 through 1st gear? as i had a rolling start in 2nd from about 30, i think i need to do it form 0

shouldnt make a difference ^ my 1.2 manages to do 59 in second at red line..whatever that is ..

think top speed in each gear is like this for both 8v and 16v

1st - 29
2nd - 58/59
3rd - 80
4th - 101
5th - 120

and as far as I am aware other than the rsi's, valvers, william 1*2's and v6's they all use the same ratios

It's on the dash at just under 60 so ACTUAL speed is probably less, that's why the 0-60 of the 1.6 isn't that good, because of the gear change, if the rev limiter was higher say 7000rpm then 60 should be piss in 2nd.

yeah rasing the limiter to about 7,000rpm will defo help your 0-60 time if you care about them.

my 1.2 does about 58mph in 2nd (6,250rpm)

Mines been timed at 8.8 to 60, so Your right, I don't really care about it TBH.

not bad ^^ mine wasnt acurately timed but was between 10 secs and 1.5 secs (1.2 16v)

10.5's pretty good for a 1.2 16v, it's the book time for a 1.4 16v

I heard somewhere that the (factory) 0-60's are done with two people in the car, half a tank of fuel and a 100k payload.
