1.8 16v engine help

  super smooth, low corsa c
hi ya

i want to change my mk1 1.4 clio to a 1.8 16v. the car is an auto. i just wanted to know if people have done this? And will an auto gearbox cope with the power?

thanks very much.

p.s. does anyone have a valver engine for sale that is standerd?

I think it was GDI that put a Auto box on a williams but i think it was difficult.... Speak to Andy GDI he will tell you all you need to kno about using an auto box wi a valver engine!

I think Brad_RT had his car in at GDi for a 2.0 williams automatic engine conversion but there was some osrt of problem with it and I think he may even have ended up using a 1.8 RSi engine. I can't remember exactly what the problem was but it may have just been that the box couldn't cope with the power.

ok thanks for the help people:D . i think really i would be best off by getting a manual clio than change the gear box and engine to the 1.8 16v.

do you know if the 16v gear box and engine use the same mounts as the 1.2?
thanks ben

oh i'am still on the look out for a 1.8 16v engine, gear box, ecu and other running gear if anyone can help me. thanks
