1.9 DCI Starting Problem

My friend has a 2002 Megane 1.9 DCI which the glow plugs are not turning on unless he tries the ignition 10 or 20 times. He has tried changing the glow plugs, preheating module, and coolant temp sensor but while it's improved it's not fixed. Does anyone know which of the relays is for the 70amp glow plug circuit? Or any other ideas on how to fix it? Cheers

If it is a non start problem, check the corigated fuel pipe down behind the drivers headlight for leaks. Its common for rubbing through on a wiring loom.

Ok I'll let him know glow plugs shouldn't stop it starting.

He said it does start just usually takes him 5 minutes of trying. Also once it's started if you turn it off it'll start straight away but it won't if you leave it a few hours.

Check that pipe. A good way of testing it is to pump the priming bulb a few times to pressurise the fuel in the pipe.

How do you do that?

There is a priming bulb under the bonnet to draw the fuel from the tank to the filter. Its next to the coolant bottle. Pump that a few times and check the pipe im talking about for leaks.

It only takes a small hole in a fuel pipe to let air into the system and stop it from starting.
