1 Reason To Go Back To XP From VISTA

...Battery life.

My laptop running XP had a battery life of around 2hours+

Now as it is running VISTA it last about 30minutes.

Its down right ridiculas.

I don't want to sit on my laptop with the screen on the dullest possible setting to make it last longer.

With XP i had it on "performance" battery setting and it lasted ages.

Really grinds my gears as my laptop is no longer "portable"!!

I had the opposite experience.

I messed about in Windows Mobility settings and my laptop battery (crap as it is) lasts longer under Vista than it did under XP pro.

why dont you reconfigure your bat via bios, some laptops enable you to reset the battery (software).

Worked for a few people I did it for

Griff - i don't want to piss around with my HDD shutting down after 2mins of non-use. It ran fine in XP with all top settings and no power saving options!

Have you tried to reconfig the bat as sometimes when vista is loaded it gets all screwy

that doesn't make much sense...although i noticed the power button gets swapped to sleep....so maybe your not shutting down properly.
