How do they handle....... well to put it simply i have never driven a car which handles so well (this is not me trying to sell it to you its my honest opinion), it feels like its on rails. The car has had a lot thrown at it in terms of good quality modifications, one of which includes full set of koni shocks and springs which make it super stiff.

All i can say is drive one, i bet you any money you wont be disapointed! Im sure others will agree

The most fun i've ever had in a car was in a 106gti. Everybody needs a drive in one at some point in their life.

Totally standard bar a set of lowering springs and lowered a little at the back.

It was a pocket rocket and inspired nothing but confidence in what it was doing.

Would have one again in a heartbeat. Would probably go for a rallye with a 1.6 though just to try something different.

About a grand too much TBH.

a grand!?!?! are you joking, 2.5k would be a fair price to pay but the amount of money that has gone into it (including brand new rear beam, shocks, polybushed, gearbox, 306gti 6 brake conversion) and its only on 54k miles!

I dont think its over priced tbh

When does low mileage stop being low mileage?! Imo sub 10k miles is class'd low mileage.

is 100k low mileage on a 15yr old car? lol

rather than being clever, 54k miles on a 12 year old car is low mileage when you realise that 90% of 106 gti's are approaching the 100k mark.

Deadly serious, hence your thread being weeks old and nobody interested despite your attempts at bumps etc.

It is nicely modified, but that really doesn't justify the price. It's 12 years old! Plus it's got the horrible seats and bump strips.

Look at this for the same price.. http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1830759.htm

More miles but a lot newer and a much better buy. That's probably still a bit high. They will sell at 3k, but for mint 02 Sundance ones.

It always amuses me...Sure it's low mileage for the age of the car. Given the UK Avg of 10-12k p/a. But it's not low mileage overall.

thats fair enough, everyone is entitled to their own opinion,

Im not in a rush to sell so i will see how it goes, i know its not going to achieve 3k but at the same time i wont let it go for silly money because its just not worth it. I may aswell keep it! Its alot of car for not alot of money, especially when you stick it on a track :)

Well what would you compare it to? Im saying its low mileage for the car it is, not overall! Thats a stupid statement to make lol

Personally, & whilst i think its a very nice car, the only way you will get anywhere near to £3k for it is buying breaking/putting it back to standard.

Thats not me being harsh, thats having owned/sold/broken/built a few of them.

Looks a nice example btw, Ignore Minstrels he's just bitter he wrapped his obnoxious coloured 106 Quiksilver with angel eyes into a milkfloat.

I thought it was a facelift for 2.5k. It's not so therefore it's over priced imo.

If anyone were interested then i could get them as many pics as needed.... including engine bay etc. The advert was compiled in a bit of a rush lol

No offence, but why bother then? A rushed advert for a car at the high end of the price scale is retarded. You want someone that will appreciate the spec and condition of the car, then put a rushed advert up? I wouldn't even nother enquiring on a car at that end of the market advertised in such a shoddy way. Sorry to be blunt!

Old thread i know but just thought i would mention that i sold this for £2600 :) sold it 2 months ago now so all within good time! just spotted this thread so thought i would let peeps know what it was sold for.

The guy came down from up north, looked at it and loved it, then drove it and loved it even more. He had owned a Gti before that so he knew what he was looking for. I went and bought a 172 Cup straight after :)

ooft. how the f**k you got that i dont know as it was 'top' money.

did look nice, but a 12 year old pug 106 gti for £2600 regardless of miles and shite seems like the higher end of the market.

seems bizarre, 172/182 prices going to joke proportions where as older and similar pugeot models are on the rise.

interesting.

106 GTi's will always sell for good money, because it's the perfect car in terms of insurance, running and power for younger people.

106 gti's are only immense to drive if you havent tried a 172 phase 1 ;)

I sold my S plate gti for 3k. That was over 2 years ago.

106's are generally wayyy overpriced. people do seem to pay it though. you can get half decent ph2 172 for 3k though!

There is a reason for the Gti holding their value so please let me explain, imo of course.

They are the sought after model over the Saxo VTS. There are far less around so people are prepared to pay a little bit more.

Numbers are hugely decreasing as they stopped making them in 03.

To be fair i know most of you will say it makes no difference but my Gti had a fortune spent on it one way or another. It had literally every part replaced for new/uprated. everything down to installing digi dials and upgrading the fuel pump etc along with mounts, brand new rear beam, big brake setup, full exhaust and manifold setup, new wheels, plybushed, full koni shocks and springs, HID lights, B&M Quickshift.... and what gave it its value was the colour (fairly rare colour now).

I knew i could of broken it for parts for the same money so wanted to try and sell complete to an enthusiast. In some ways i wish i never sold it because it was the "best" handling car i have owned. I sold my phase 1 172 for that Gti, never looked back until i missed the comforts of the clio so bought a cup lol.

Il probably own another one someday :)

That was my old GTi and I took the PH1 172 for it, and I can honestly say the 106 was a hell of a lot more fun ;)

Plus, that wasnt overpriced.

This man did all the above quoted work... and re the price.... it was spot on which is why it sold! :)
