16v Gearbox Mount

  clio 16v
How do you know if its gone? i feel like i'm starting to get a bit more play in the gearknob, when coming down from higher revs through the gears. its not the knob itself that moving it feel like the whole box.

any ideas if this is what it is, or if its expensive to change?

if it's the dogbone mount there around £20 genuine and easy to change provided you have access to the underside of your car, not sure on the price of gearbox mount although i have 2 gearbox mounts on mine on a clio mount the other a r19 16v mount

When you accelerate hard the gearstick will move, as the engine moves in teh bay, a buggered mount means the gearbox end of the engine moves more, and hence the gearstick moves.

Bog bone is easy in theory, last one i changed on a 16v rewquired about an hour trying to cut the bolt off wiht a hack saw, cus i had left my grinder at home :(, and then it took a serious moutn of effort to get teh bolt out cus the downpipe was in the way, after that it was a piece of piss

there is very little movement when accelerating, its when i'm slowing down, without changing gear that i'm getting the movement.
