16V Gearbox

Hi All!

Happy Xmas and all that :)

Well this is the situation.. my gearbox is dead (from what ive been told by a garage man) so ive bought a replacement and just wanted to ask if anyone has changed a gearbox in a Clio (16v?) before? I'm just after any tips or things to watch out for!

I'm not great with cars and my mate is doing it so I just wanted to ask you dudes first :)

Any advice would be great

Cheers
Rich

its not that bad quite tight wouldnt like to do one on the floor thou if u have access to a ramp is much easier. i would change the clutch as well mate while u have the box out and make sure it is aligned (clutch aligning tool is really needed for this) before u put the box back. subframe needs to come down not sure if u can undo a couple of bolts and swing the subframe out the way. good luck and have fun lol:rasp:

like for example i decided to service my valver at work just before xmas and change all the fluids, coolant, brake fluid and oil/fiulter change. the oil filter is a c**t to change anyway, the jubilee clip on the bottom rad hose was seized and a pain to get off and to top it off one of the calipers bleed screws rounded off!!! arghhhhhh  lol

Drop the subframe is the easy option if its willing to budge.
Otherwsie I'd take the whole bleeding engine out might fine its less hastle.
