16v gearbox

knackered my gearbox

clio 16v

took it out the other night so now car is sittin on axle stands in need of box

wot boxes will fit? will a ren 19 1.9D fit? (for price sake)

quaoted of renualt at £398 for clio 16v box

i live in northeren ireland

any clio box will fit, but wont suit the engine.

ur best bet really is another valver box or a transmission specialist shud be able to rebuild your box for not much cash if u can refit it urself

19d box wont do for a reason that escapes me at the minute lol sure sum1 else knos tho

gutted for ya.... I spoke to http://www.3dtransmissions.comwww.3dtransmissions.com recently who told me that the gearbox on the valver is overstressed by the engine, which means that it shouldnt be hammered in 1st gear as this is where the weakness is.

Once your up there its fine but just not in 1st gear. They do quality rebuilds with all new parts ,but your a bit far away!

engine revs isnt taken from the gbox, its taken from the ignition coil

i dont think the valver box is that overstressed mine did 140k, 20oddk on a 2litre with 170-180bhp with numerous drag racing days and mat did a track day there just not bullet proof thats all

and i dont think the weakness is in first either they more than likely start jumping out of gear and bein stiff when hot

well I geuss 30 odd years experience with gearboxes counts for nothing!..

I think I trust what they have to say!
