16v Vs Willy Gearbox

Hello

Can someone tell me the difference? I have a F7R running a 1.8 16v gearbox as i have been told it gives it a taller fifth?

Now i have had someone tell me the gearbox wont last long as they cant take the torque like the willy box. Is this true?

a willy gearbox gets to 60 in 3rd where as the valver box gets there in 2nd so williams takes an extra gear change hence the similar 0-60 times

Dont know about the torwue thou

I have got a willy box on mine

when compaired side to side

williams Vs 2.0 williams but valver box - there was nothing in it at high revs.

And the cars remained equal - as before the gearbox change....aint that right bejesus.

As far as i know the ratios are exactly the same apart from the willy has a slightly taller 5th gear

The F7P box is generally a weaker box than the F7R

right, as tested TIME AND TIME again by me and Northy the results are thus:

SAME FUKKIN BOX!!! Willy has stronger internals... thats it... same in gear speeds in ALL gears despite popular belief. Smokes, the valver only hits 60 in second cos of revs, 7200 to the Willys 6400/6500 rpm limit.

My JB3 is now starting to notch going into 3rd sometimes, so ill be getting a Williams box next to try that, but believe me when I say they are one and the same, no difference on the road at all. Valver box does seem fragile now that I have cams too, only time will tell how a Willy box handles the power, but im expecting to be getting a new box at least once a year now tbh... these boxes only just handle the power as standard imo.
and Northy, you are perfectly correct good sir!

The bearings are uprated/stronger in the williams box

ratios differ ever so slightly, The fact that the williams wont hit 60 in 2nd is more down to the lower 6.5k rev limit than the gearing imo

housing is suppose to be stronger too. im sure when i went from a valver to williams, 5th gear was 500rpm less with the willy compared to the valver!!!

yup, diff housing and internals are stronger on the willy box... not that it seems to make much difference from all the blown up ones from people i know on here lol. Mehdi and 2 live alone have done at least 10 between them now... im pretty sure its more tho.

Craig, my valver box revs out at the same as Northys Williams one, we tested this on a couple of different occasions at some NW meets and even top end was identical as well as all gear changes which for a load of the runs were agreed to be done at 6500 on the dials, as sometimes both our cars seem to rev over 65k randomly... 2lives went to 75k when i had a go in it... limiters set to 72k

yeh iv sometimes seen the revs go past the limitor! maybe the rev counter was slightly slow compared to the revs?

yep lots of willy boxes blown, but only cos all the quick 2.0s have em and they get abused to fuk lol!

my old 1.8 blew my 1800 box that had been fully rebuilt 10k since! boooo!!
