17’s on a 172 mk 1

anyone . whats the performance loss like and does it f**k the handling much. And whats a comfortable amount of lower i could do.

A 19.8mm increase in rolling radius with 17s. Not good IMO. Go for some 16s 195/45s and drop it 40mm. (mind you get the 17s might make us a bit more even down the strip)

Well, Ive done a trackday in a mk1 172 with 17s on and handling was still pretty good, so no worry on the front.

You can "feel" the wider tyres, but you get used to it.

Does slow the car down a little though, but not massively.

p.s. the difference is not that much between a 195/50 R15 and a 205/40 R17
