172 36K Service Costs

How much have people paid for their 36k service?

Is it worth supplying my own oil as well?

Car is Mk1 172

I think you would be looking at £300 - £350 approx. Renault oil is good, but a bit pricey. Im a Renault technician and undertake any work needed at a fraction of the cost of a main dealer service.

Think I am going to get a credit card with 6 months interest free for my service as being a 1.2 and modded I bet it will come up with something that is going to cost a fair wack to repair.

Take it to Mike172sport at Linningtons in Portsomuth Day...10% discount off everything, and the oil charge can be as low as £14 if you buy it over the parts counter before hand your keys in.

Turbo 200..........as a Reno Technician........how come the V6 is cheaper to service than a 172/182?

It is mainly down to labour times. Belive it or not, a V6 is easier to work on than a 172/182. e.g. to change a gearbox on a V6 clio, Renault give you 5 hours to change the box, whereas on a 172/182 it is nearly 9 hours.

Perfect thatll do for me.............it just seemed a big dif between the costs for a 36,000 mile service ie 172/182 between £80 & £130 more expensive.

That is based upon the £232 it will cost me for a 36,000 mile service on the Vee..........although I do get a loyalty discount and I will be supplying my own oil so I expect to pay around the £150/£160 mark

I paid £370 for the service + £500 for new brakes. renault wanted £470 to replace discs and pads all round. I went elsewhere.

Update:

I had thought about Linningtons but I couldnt bear a day shopping in Portsmouth

Im actually going to do it myself with a family friend whos an ex RTE.

Half the stuff listed on the 36k major has already been carried out less than 6000 miles ago so it will be cheaper than first thought :)

You think there is much point be having my 36,000 mile service done at Dixon Renault for £250 ?

Its warranty has expired, what are the advantages/disadvantages??

There is a garage in wilton industrial estate by reeves. I have taken all my current & previous cars there (evos, 172s, ctr etc) they r very very good + the service is spot on. They also use genuine parts so it dosnt void your warranty. I always supply my own oil though, and they r cheap as chips :D

Cheers Ant, I know the garage in question - its not too far away from work either so its extremely convenient :D

just had the 36k service done on my 1.2 8v, at renault, cost me 320 quid!! Had to smack it on my credit card cos i got no money this month.

Thing is it had nothing major wrong with it, so it was a basic replace filters oil etc.
