Just booked my Mk2 172 in for its 36k service. Was quoted £300 which I didnt think was too bad. Asked how much the 72k service was (cambelt change) and was told £900! ouch.

Just booked my Mk2 172 in for its 36k service. Was quoted £300 which I didnt think was too bad. Asked how much the 72k service was (cambelt change) and was told £900! ouch.

My mate has a L-reg XR2i thats done about 100k and is rusty as feck - he still takes it back to the main dealer... So much so they say "you still got that?" whenever he goes back.
Cost him something like £500 to get a service, brakes done, split coolant pipe replaced and flush & refill for the coolant.
Completely nuts.
But then this is also the man that bought BFGoodrich Profilers when he could have had F1s for about £20 more. (at over £200 for 4)
Ive just booked mine in for the 24k and they quoted £159, I only intend on using Renault until the warranty is up so by the time 72k comes along it wont have seen the inside of a Renault garage for quite a while!!
The garage that fitted my Magnex are Renault specialists so I’ll be going there.
