172 Air Filter - Yes i know... another thread

I need to change my air filter in my 172 as I have no idea what is is but I know it looks terrible and is seriously dirty. It's a cone filter, possibly K+N.

What filter should I change to? I don't have the original airbox or pipe. I've read loads of threads talking about filters losing power but i've not actually seen a decent induction kit advised. I don't care much for power gains or chav sounds. I just want a replacement which will make my engine bay look much cleaner.

You normally get a cleaning spray with the filter when you buy it or can get some afterwards off ebay. Failing that I would get a standard airbox and get a new panel filter. I think there is one for sale in the sale section at the mo about 25quid ish.

Ph1 airbox is better, but Ph1 pipe ends are round, ph2 pipe ends are oval... wont fit as standard...

Mine fits. The ph1 pipe pushes against the ECU/wires because of the shape of it which eventually would wear through the wires if left alone.

EDIT: I'm talking about the elbow that leats to the throttle body. The standard ph2 feed pipes also fit - just squeeze them and they become round.
