172 boot space

I have searching for a new car to replace my 1.2 16v expression, i've been looking at mk2 172 and 182. My question is because the cars dont have a spare wheel to save wieght has that made the boot any deeper compared to my car?

cheers

hi mate. I do know that even very late mk 2 172's have spare wheels because i have one in mine, but i doubt the boot will be any bigger in the 182. Surely just the same without the spare wheel space.I might be totally wrong. Can anyone confirm what am saying is true?

My 172 has a spare alloy :)

The boot is the same size as the 1.2, so crap, but usually enough space for most needs, I can squeeze in the golf clubs!

mk2 172's will have the spare wheel well. Take the spare out & the carpet & the wife can fit at least 8 more bags of shopping in the boot!!!

I know that.

What I want to know is there anything that sits in the space to support the boot carpet?

Only the car kit thing (whatever the technical word is).

But that sits lower so there is a bit of sag on some peoples.

On the 182... they put an exhaust where the space used to be.
