172 cruise control, bringing on serv and (triangle shape light)

A lad at work said his 172 cc is playing up, sometimes works and sometimes doesnt, he said it brings on the serv light and a orange triangle shape light, ( i cant think what this will be wothout seing it)
Any ideas or experiances of this anyone?

the orange triagle light is the ESP, which is traction control and stability control.. i dont think the cruise control would bring on the ESP fault light on.. i may be wrong tho
