172 Cup Handling

How comes people bother to change the suspension setup on the 172 Clio cup. Wasnt the cup renowed for its handling? Why bother to change something that was designed with the help of a professional driver?

Because coilovers are better than the standard setup. Thats why they cost like £500+

imo Ive driven better handling french hatches than the cup. The GTi and VTS are alot more user friendly

Track Handling:

Coilovers (various brands - my prefered: Bilstein)

As good as the Cup is/was, its still sold as a road car and as such there must be a compromise...

I wouldnt say a VTS is more friendly... Far more prone to lift off oversteer...

Not a bad thing if your expecting it, but not what Id class as user friendly...

IMO the rear is a little twitchy on the std set up. I got the eibach sportlines on and it feels a lot more stable

I disagree... I think that although its easy enough to get the back on a Cup out, its more predictable than a VTS..

are you trying to say that if you change the suspension set up, you are making the car worse rather than improving it?

I have got Eibach pros on my Cup, I find it has changed the cars standard set up for the better. The Cup feels a bit more planted at high speeds and tends to thud rather than crash over un even road surfaces if ou know what I mean.

H&R coilovers are fine for the road, more comfortable than the standard setup without the body roll you get.
