172 cup question???????

Hi,

I am after abit of advice.
I have previously owned a mk1 172 & am looking at buying a 172 cup
the car i have looked at is an 03 plate & just had mot.
everything about the car was great except when it got to just over 6k rpm it was like it had hit the rev limiter which i know should be about 7.5k from having my mk1
the dealer said he would get it sorted before i purchase the car.
was wondering if anyone else had experienced any such problems with there cars or had any idea how serious the problem is.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

when the car's not quite up to temperature the rev limiter is about 6,800rpm. hope this helps.

wasnt sure if it was a problem or not!! i can feel a purchase coming on!!
looks like after 2 years out in the company car wilderness im gonna be back
