Picked the latest recruit up a few weeks ago.

First was a ph1 titanium silver 172 as my first “renaultsport”

Second was a 172 mondial cup which I loved but for some strange reason sold it. Regret.

Now this came up off a friend. Needs a little bit of work but nothing major. Looking forward to making my mark on it and improving what is already a brilliant car.

Haven’t got any decent pics at the moment, winter, Christmas and just generally being lazy but here’s a few from the previous owner and how it’s currently sat on my drive looking sorry for itself.

Rough spec:

Matched Ilets
182 manifold
Ktec induction
Power flex inserts

Cup shocks on Eibach springs - was on coilovers but selling / sold to recoup some money

Turinis on new Ad08r’s
F1’s on new Federal RSR’s

Bimarco Cup buckets
Modded scenic shifter
Welded harness bar

Fortunately / unfortunately most of the above will be sold or swapped for other bits to make it more suited to what il be using it for - weekend car and the odd drive out.

The coilovers I removed as they were far to much overkill for me - pure motorsport / bc racing.

As for the wheels, I’ve just bought a set of 2118’s which I’ve always wanted but now thinking that they won’t look as good at the ride height the eibachs give. So in time the f1’s and Turinis will be for sale.

I’ve got all the standard interior too so will be putting the rear door cards back in and maybe even the rear seats as I’ve no need for it to be stripped.

Cheers for looking

Looks good mate, has it been cherished or does it need some tlc?

It’s been cherished on the whole! One of those cars that’s had a few different guises so modded stripped then modded again. I’ve got a few plans for it so we will see how it goes!

Standard is the way to go ..if you go faster it's down to your improvement, not how much money you can throw at it ?

Not worthy of an “update” as such. Put a couple of the 2118’s on to see how it’s going to look

Slowly getting there. Doing small bits every couple of weeks. A VERY slow project!

@MrBlonde I haven’t any plans to. If they don’t continue in this project I’ve already got them lined up for the next one!

I’ve only driven once with them and I was really happy with them! Hug you well and feel comfy!

Coilovers removed today and in their place the standard low mileage cup shocks and eibach sportline springs. Photo doesn’t do it any justice as the driveways all over the place....

Spent the afternoon cleaning up the set of Turinis that came with the cup ready for being put up for sale as soon as they’re done. Brake dust that isn’t cleaned regularly is a nightmare!

Not a lot done on the cup this weekend. New project has arrived in the form of a 182ff which il be using daily. Not sure on the long term plans with the cup, all depends how the 182 pans out.

As I keep looking at the cup without the coilovers and just on lowering springs. The 2118’s don’t seem to sit quite right. Debating putting the Turinis back on and having a more original look.

Coilovers are still for sale if anyone’s interested ;)

Recently the cups took a back seat as I’ve sold my daily runner and stupidly bought a 182 to drive for a bit.

Instant regret as it’s cost me a small fortune and I’m not even two weeks into ownership.

Hi mate my next plan is to refresh the suspension on my Cup, I was thinking of original oem new cup shocks all round with some good lowering springs or other option is coil overs ? What do you suggest

I’ve got cup shocks and eibach sportline springs on both Clio’s and can’t fault them for day to day driving! When I bought the cup it had coilovers all round and was set up stiff as a board, granted it drove well but would have been way to firm for a drive to the shops! All depends how your going to be using it really @BaileyWolves

Thanks for the response mate it’s mainly a daily driver which is why I was leaning towards springs and shocks ren parts direct doing all four shocks for about 130 new on offer , are the eibach springs good on the Clio I had the pros on my EP3

Yeah I’ve found them to be good.

I had cooksport springs on my last cup and the eibachs feel just as good and less crashy.

  Clio 172 Cup
Brilliant I will look at the sportlines I think, my cup which seems common on all seems to have a higher clearance between front wheel and arch than the back

Got the speedlines on it from the cup! Actually quite happy with how it sits. No spacers and only springs for lowering.

Due to a change in circumstances at the end of the month I was going to be putting the BG up for sale and just keep the cup. Unfortunately at the end of the week I noticed it starting to smoke at high revs.

Due to this it’s up for sale and I’m just going to cut my losses on it. A sad day in Clio ownership!

The BG 182 will be getting broke if there’s no interest by the end of the month.

In a strange way I’m looking forward to driving the cup again as I haven’t in a couple of months and missed it!

In a turn of events it’s now the cup that’s getting broke while the BG 182 is still in daily duties.

Plans are in place for a new engine for the 182 when the cups gone... watch this space

@MrBlonde the bits I have are listed in the for sale section already mate.

@OssPoop it was never the cleanest example and has its issues. Can get more for it in parts than I can as a full car.
