172 cup Ticking??

I have just noticed my engine making a rapid ticking noise, like tappets while i had the bonnet open. Its coming from the head and I dont think it's the injectors, the engine has recently had an oil change and there is oil in the engine. Is this a normal sound, it's not excessively loud but im noticing it since I have opended the bonnet, am I Just being paranoid??

What my Dad said but i didnt really notice it did it as bad as what it does or is it normal to be loud iv heard some 172s and they sounded quiet

Mine did that when new, and still does it 102,000 miles later.

dude if you think theres a bigger prob dont drive it or ul f**k it up big time! mines is ticking like mad atm and isnt being driven until a mechanic looks at it.

I think thats what it is (I probably only read it on here however!). Mine makes a tappety noise on tickover once its hot. Done it since I've got it. Has'nt gone pop yet after circa 30k miles.

Mines always done this on idle when warm. I was told its completely normal

Carbon Canister, I had replaced under warranty, still sounded the same once warmed up.

The ticking sound like it's coming from the head more than anything, but it is just a ticking sound no nocking. Cant be too bad eh, still drives fine.

Mine does it carbon cannister i reckon not much to worry bout i reckon. Was that yoy Jon i saw whilst claying my car the other day!

sure was mate. you live directly opposite my mates parents. love that mini of yours aswell seen that motoring (bouncing) along the top road a while ago. you tagging along on the 27th to meet some of the south west guys???

I bounce along the top road a lot trying to avoid the old traffic. May pop down for a quick hello on the 27th busy weekend that one . I take it your mate is the chap with the mx bike See a caged up williams about sometimes aswell.

Just check your spark plugs are ok, mine had a ticking and it was a loose spark plug! ended up blowing out! cost 200 quid to sort it

yeah thats him. havent seen him in ages though never does anything quietly either. well if you find yourself having a quiet one pop down.thread on here somewhere.... not a bad bunch of guys.
