172 Cup to 182

  Peddled device

Who has changed from a 172 Cup to a 182 and how do they compare?
I am toying with the idea of changing to a 182 but would have to find cash to make up the difference. My cup is mint and on a dec53 plate with 6500k.It has no mods.
I mainly like the interior of the 182s and of course it has a lot more toys but the Cup is both very quick and brilliant on juice and l only paid 10500k for it new!

i doubt theres a huge difference, speed will be similar handling will be similar. Although you get the luxuries in the 182 you talk of.

The 182 is brilliant on juice too (same engine...) and can be had for £11k brand new.

I wouldnt like to sell one at a big loss to buy another one new and make a big loss in future. Your call though

Cup probably handles better than the 182. Unless you were changing to the 182cup.

It wont be any quicker though, the added weight on the 182 will keep it about the same pace.

Dont do it, your taking a huge hit for not alot of gain.

Around the same pace and handling.

If it were me I wouldnt bother. Id just buy something else other than a Renault now. A second hand LCR would be such a better buy!

You will only notice the luxury bit .Thats it,and thats a lot of money for not a lot of return

I couldnt see the appeal of a 182 over 172 cup until recently. cupped 182s are well nice on the inside and I prefer the anthracite alloys, but then again you would have to sort all the same design issues on warranty and the cruise control might power you into a solid object. With renault simple means less hassle..

a few people have done this and they ahve all said what an improvment it was, me ive never driven a 172 cup but I couldnt do without the luxuries

had both mate and to be honest although the 182 feels more compact and sounder nothing beat my 172 cup so raw and well my favourite, same speed looks etc get a v6 instead

Cheers.
Think lm gonna stick with the Cup and maybe upgrade to a 182 next year when the new model Clio comes out....so maybe get a big discount again:)

ok, i swopped from cup to 182, the 182 handles slightly better, imo goes as quick, if not quicker, and you get all the toys too, but its still a sh*t renault, and i had not a single problem with my cup, the 182 has been plagued with them

cupped 182s have exact same interior as 182s...

182 cup is a different matter.

Didnt the power of the type R go up slightly recently? Was it as similar as the 172 to 182 or more extreme.. if similar then you think they spend as much time talking about "upgrading" as we do on here? - not a dig or anything, im just interested...
