172 Cup

Here's a few pictures of my 172 Cup. Had it a couple of months now, got it looking pretty much how i want it to.

But ive started to look at BG 182's recently and they are pretty cheap, but the Cup will do for the time being.

advice for you though...............keep the 172 cup or save and go for the 197 or you wont really no much difference. 197 is alot heavier though.
i hada choice out of a 172 cup with 47,000 and a 182/182 cup with roughly 49,000 (couldnt afford a trophy at the time) both were same price and i chose the 172 cup.

reasons are.......

The 172 cup is the lightest of the lot, even lighter than the trophy.

Only difference for a 182 and 172 is the manifold, thats what gives the182 a extra 10bhp but because the 182 is heavier so evens it out.
(put a 182 manifold on a 172 cup and you have the quickest out of the the lot, RS clios are all built the same, my mate put a 182 manifold on a phase1)

a good looked after 172 cup will hold its price better than a 182.

only bad thing about a 172 cup is the boring cloth seats.

^ I did exactly that a few years ago, i didn't get on with the 182, it was no Cup imo. The Cup is (bar the Trophy) the best MK2 imo

ive just bought a 53 reg 172 cup same as yours. needing a few parts though, passenger wing, headlights and front bumper if anybody has any let me know. cheers. !!

ive got a cup 172 & im glad to hear they are better than the 182....as for the cloth seats japmaster,ive put seat covers on mine
