172 drinking fuel

Hi all
got a problem
fitted bigger throttle body to my 2002 172 at weekend and all was well untill it just stopped when I looked the map sensor in the air intake the plug had come loose so cleaned connections and plugged back in car fired up no problem but was bouncing around on the revs
assumed this was just down to the ecu resetting up after the new throttle body
but now the car drinks fuel and holds back on acceleration then takes off as it should but fuel economy has dropped from the normal 38-40 mpg I was getting down to 12-15 mpg
any suggestions can't see the throttle body making that much difference in fuel economy

Put the old one back and see if that fixes the problem. Why did you fit a larger throttle body?

are your inlets matched? whats your outtake like

The throttle body isn't a restriction so it's wasted money.

You need to be looking at live data, see what the sensors are seeing really.

to me if you open the tb out further and dont alter anything else its going to create a bottle neck effect and unless other in/outlet mods have already been done it will be counterproductive

I, and many other have achieved over 200bhp on the stock throttle body. It's not a restriction.
