172 driveshaft and cv joints

Am i right in saying that the mk2 clio 172 has a one piece driveshaft and cv joints? Someone told me that to replace the cv joint the driveshaft and the other joint has to be replaced aswell.

Is this true?
What sort of price should i be looking at?

they're about £170 on exchange from renault for the driveshafts

Try Halford etc you'd be looking at under £100 on exchange.
Even cheaper if you shop round I got one new for under £100.
Some places can rebuild them for £50~£100.
