172 Exhaust conversion

Maybe a dumb question, but has anyone converted a standard 172 to have the 182 twin exhaust. Whats involved, is it just a case of buying the replacing my 172 exhaust with a 182 exhaust, and a new rear bumper. Would it really be such a simple job ?.

you cant fit the 182 exhuast to a 172

but you can get aftermarket ones that will fit

the 182 has a flat boot your 172 doesnt

Do you have any good pointers where I can get an aftermarket one that looks like the 182, the only ones I have seen just have the twin pipes together.

If you want a 182 exhaust on a 172 you would need to cut out the spare wheel tire well, plate it and weld it back up. Put the spare in the boot, on the roof or not in the car at all.

Why bother? I would rather just use the 182 manifold, and actually gain some power.
