172 gearbox on a 182??

As asked in the title can a 172 gearbox be fitted to a 182, if so what is the difference between the 2 gearboxes if anything?

Fits without problems. Early 172 boxes max have a speedo sensor and a circlip'd diff instead of a bolted on item. Final drive on the ph1 boxes is a bit longer aswell.
