172 Gearbox upgrage etc....

I have now got my stage 2 turbo conversion completed and run in. It is turning out aprrox 300 bhp. I desparately need to upgrade my gearbox before it goes bang. Does anyone know of upgrades, Rebuilds, generic FWD quaife boxes with clio bell housing.

I do not have an ATB LSD as the slip allows the excess torque to escape from one wheel. The downside is wheel spin and planet gear wear.

What alternatives do I have.

Any genuine help will be much appreciated.

yozza do a 6 speed conversion with LSD, but i don't think it'll handle that power as it still uses the OE casings

How is the wee clio handling the power mate? i.e: Getting power to the road.. Most people are really against FWD + 300bhp.. I personnally think it can be fine.... Whats it like in the real world?

It's actually not to bad. Some people think that you can get in a 300 BHP clio and drive it like it was a standard 172. You need to have a bit of mechanical sympathy and drive it in a way that isn't just going to wheel spin all the time. I personally only use the full power in 3rd and onwards which is when you need big power away.

Nova boys don't quite understand what I am talking about I quess...

would that not be weaker than standard then, seen as you have to fit an extra gear in the same amount of space?

nope, the extra gear doesn't go inside the OE casing

I fully understand!!....I own a Phase one 172 Turbo....have u actually had the car power run???...for facts and figures????
