Wham BAM thank you man.Tough date.
i'm so sorry my first language is not english so i'm not perfect with it. but i bet my question can be understood quite well. or am i wrong?
2002 172 is a JC5-129, but a JC5-089 Ph1 has a higher final drive ratio which I prefer.well i did wrote 172 gearbox.. so i'm asking for 172 2.0 16V F4R engine. To be more specific its a 124kw 2002 ph2 RS Clio.
Also the 089 doesn't have that stupid circlip so its really the better box.
Correct.I thought it was the 130 that had the bolted diff?
Correct.
The 089 has the circlip diff, but can be converted by @NorthloopCup.

Correct. When you say the 089 has a higher final drive, do you mean the rpm's will be less or more at say 70mph?
Correct.
Drops to 3150 rpm @ 70 mph on 16 inch rims.
Slightly less better acceleration then, probably negligable though?
On paper, slightly slower 0-60, though I could get that back if I went on a serious diet.
On the plus side, you can hang on to 3rd into the mid ninety`s, removing the need to come off the power to change up.
The ratio was only changed so that the heavier Ph2 matched the lighter Ph1 0-60 time.
My bad! I always thought the 089 was bolted and the 130 and 129 had this circlip that keeps popping out. I stand corrected. You guys were right!
Edit: How the circlip in my 089 hasn't popped yet is beyond me.
I`ll try to avoid doing that then.:smile:Full lock and give it a boot full usually pops them.

Guess a renfort plate would be the cheapest fix to prevent this from happening.
My suspicion is that they pop when there is lateral movement (left to right, right to left) of the engine/gearbox assembly when cornering hard.
Hence the need for solid engine mounts.
Correct.
The 089 has the circlip diff, but can be converted by @NorthloopCup if he has any time. Ever.
