172 head on 182

My car was in at a garage recently and they said my 182 had a cylinder head from a 172 on it. Apparently it can give additional performance? Is there any truth to this as hadn't heard this before.

Ph1 172 head has slightly larger exhaust ports. That said, you'd never notice the difference.

Can the ph1 head fit on a 182 and is it easy to spot the difference between the two types of cylinder head?

Ah ok, mine has a blocked off breather pipe, maybe that's why they did it then. Sounds like a pointless mod to change the cylinder head but so I can only assume something went wrong with the old cylinder head and they got hold of a ph1 172 head from a breaker then just blocked off the breather
