172 headlights always on...

Hi guys,

Just finished replacing the head on my 172 after a snapped cambelt.

Got it together and took it for a spin, drives fine but the headlights are on, as is the green indicator on the dash.... Even though the stalk is set to "0"?

Any ideas?

Was it dark?
Do 172's have auto headlights like 182's?

If yes to both then you can either leave the auto headlights on and enjoy the new feature you never knew you had or deactivate them by cycling the headlamp switch on and off a couple of times. I think it bleeps to indicate its been activated/deactivated.

nah it was midday...

a bright australian midday, not a crappy UK overcast midday

not sure if i have auto headlights, hope not, sounds like a dumb feature...

My 2003 172 has autolights. as the above says, if you dont want them on, just turn them on off on off and it will beep. same again to put them on again.

if it was daylight then it could be a problem with your brightness sensor for your autolights? possibly.

all renaultsport clio's ph2 have auto lights, unless its a cup or trophy !
