172 headlights when lowered

  Astra CDTI XP & ZX6R
Ive recently bought a 172 and its lowered on coilovers, it is quite low and the front end sits lower than the rear. I like the set up alot the only thing is the headlights point more into the ground than normal. Is there anyway of adjust the headlights so there pointing more upwards? Hope this isnt too much of a stupid ?
cheers

Yes they are manually adjustable, on the rear of the headlight there is a white allen-bolt adjustor. Just make sure the engine is running before you adjust them or they'll revert to normal the first time you start up.

I'm guessing this is a non-xenon'd 172. Wouldn't the self-levellers do that with a Xenon'd one?

No mate, if the rear is lowered then the auto-leveller thinks the nose of the car is pointing skyward (which it isn't if the front is lowered too!) So it auto-adjusts the headlights to point downwards (into the road!).

Ah ha! I thought this was the case with mine once i had lowered it! Good ol search engine works!

How should they be adjusted though? height wise?? I mean dont want to blind people or have them pointing up towards the stars!

Take it tio an MOT station if you want to do it proerly and tyhey'll adjust it or else get the car to the normal ride height then measure the beam height on the wall and adjust the beam to about ther same position.
