172 Indicator Problem

Ok, heres the scenario... im at a junction signalling right. I turn right and let the indicator cancel automatically. However, the indicator stalk keeps going and i end up signalling left when i dont want to.

It only happens when i centre the steering wheel quite fast, but its annoying.

Is there a cure for this, and does it happen to anyone else?

try a new shape vauxhall vectra or similar its a major pain in the ass, u cant cancel them it keeps signalling the other way like u said.

well its supposed to automatically cancel, but it goes past the half way point and signals left when i turn quickly.

it doesnt do it turning the other way.

maybe the selector on the steering column is a bit loose? You had the wheel off at all? Might be worth taking it off and having a look.

nope, never had the wheel off... the cover behind the wheel ive had off tho.

do you think its just a loose bolt? it only does it on right hand turns.

its only a plastic ring that cancels the indicator that sits below the steering wheel, you will probably find its the spring in the stalk thats at fault ,i.e worn , try centering the wheel and indicate left and right and you will feel less drag whilst indicating right .new stalk is the only cure it only gets worse lol.

behine the steering wheel there is a unit that controls all that, there is a plastic ring that keeps it all tight , this sometimes pops out ... all you do is pull the steering wheel off and push the plastic ring back in , just clips in

Mine does exactly the same. Indicate right, straighten up quickly and it indicates left.

Think of it as a feature rather than a fault...
