im looking to get a panel filter for my 172 clio but ive been told i wont get any induction noise from a panel filter. i dont want a cone filter because of heat soak. whats your thoughts/experience?
Heard the best airfilter/induction kit is the original airbox, and maybe with uprated cold air feed and MAYBE a remove acoustic valve.
If you want noise, just pull of the existing air feed on the right of the airbox. Squeeze the hose a bit and pull it out of the airbox. Someone will probably post a link to what's posible.
Why does everyone rate ITG panel filteres/ IK's over say a K&N panel/typhoon kit or BMC? just interested, before owning the 172 i'd not heared of them.
go on Neal hahhahhah :approve:
i think he wants to say this has been discussed to death, the acoustic valve thingy.
No gains to be had, some say it's less nippy-er on the throttle with it removed. Misses bit o torque
when you say remove the air feed on the right hand side of the air box, wont that allow dirty air to be sucked into the engine? i havent got time tonight to remove the valve (i take it the valve is behind the arch lining?) so i might just remove the caf to see what the noise is like.
right now i'm running the standard airbox (phase 2) with the bottom airfeed removed, the top one still there. ITG panel also there . The car goes like a train, throughout the rpmrange. It's really the best setup, original, + i've tried a couple of different IK's...
If he is saying the bottom one, he mean the one that is mounted on the underside of the airbox. There are two feed. One on the right, which you can see easily, and one underneath the airbox. You can see that one when taking out the filter.
Don't know if thats the best one to remove, because it's close to the engine, and isn't as easily removed as the right one.
