172 mk2 accelerator wiring

  Mk2 172

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the accelerator on a Clio 172 Mk2? I want to see if I can get around needing an external WOT (Wide Open Throttle/NOS type) switch.

The 6 wire that are there are difficult to diagnose (for me anyway), and there doesnt seem to be a Haynes manual for a 172. Does it use the standard earth, or an isolated earth that goes back to the ECU?

Cheers, Elliot:=:cool:

its not linear in the least and is via the ECU.

It has to control idle and snap openings.

Mind you, it is a straght signal @ WOT, so you could try to isolate that signal, but i dont see the point of over complexity and busting into the loom, id ratehr just use the microswitch on the pedal stop and leave the N20 system independant, so you can take it of ASAP.

The "fly by wire" throttle is not something you should be messing with. There are 2 tracks within the throttle potentiometer which work on different voltage potentials. If the ECU picks up a spurious signal, it will more than likely go into default, which may mean the throttle will stop responding and set itself into "get you home mode". A micro switch would be a better and safer option if you really want it.

I think I shall try fitting the microswitch to the underside of the pedal, rather than to the floor. It will be harder to see, and easier to adjust

I have trieds unplugging the cable from the accelerator, and the engine sat at about 3k revs. I guess this is Get-You-Home mode.

Thanks for the advice guys,

BenR: Which NOS kit did you fit?
