for the knock sensor, it looks like its come off, is it attached to the part of the loom that feeds the oil pressure sensor, oil level sensor or somewhere else?

sorry off subject but when i was installing my ice i found a plug under my glovebox that isn't plugged into anything, just dangling. Looked in my mates 182 and he also has it. Whats this???

lol yep knock sensor, someones borken it unless the cars rerally overheated at somepoint, then they melt off.

You need a new knock sensor.

I am sorry, what is knock sensor for?? What is KNOCK mean?

I called the garage who had changed the coolant for me, he said that is coolant temp sensor. Who should I listen to???

And there is no overheat, I guess it just sense the engine room temp when it is not plug.

The coolant temp sensors is in the thermostat housing not on the front of the block.

The knock sensor is there the detect pinking of the engine (pre detonation) so it can alter the ignition so it no longer detonates as it tends to put holes in pistons over time.

Looks to me as if it has been broken off.

Thanks a lot!!!

I also saw something approx. 2-3 inches above the oil filter which I think it require somethings to plug into, is that what the knock sensor suppose to plug into??

Does anyone know how much does a knock sensor cost? It is the black piece of thing or it is a whole unit that attached to something else?

Really look forward to hear from your advice. Thanks!!!

yes, I checked Haynes (even it is with different engine) manual, I think it is knock sensor.
But how come my car can still run with this sensor broke/disconnect???

it will run but it will be running with a flat rate r****d.

Get a new one and fit it.

Attached are pics of the other side from the cylinder. Yes, it is broke I guess. But does anyone know how to remove this from the cylinder?? Just unscrew it??? I am wondering how it is being fit when the plug is in one piece, very easy to break???
