172 non cup gearbox

Evening everyone

Got a quick question for you.
Got a mrk1 gearbox to go into my mrk 2 172 non cup.
Should there be any issues or will it fit straight in?

By mk1 do you mean valver/williams??

Or a ph1 172?

All will fit your engine fine(valver/williams need there own gearbox mount)

and the mk1 mount includes the battery tray like the mk2 but they are different so you need to change that too.

Another question im gunna remove my air con unit will a 172 cup aux belt fit or do I need some sort of deletion kit

You need either a delete kit or the complete cup setup.

By ph1 mk1 you mean like a K reg yeah? If so you need the mount too. And the boxes are weaker IME.

What Chip said, you will need the upper gearbox mount and they are weaker too.

You may also need the bracketry and dog bone mount from the mk1 as i don't think they have the threaded hole for the smaller end of the ph2 twisted dog bone mount.

(maybe wrong but its been a while since i looked at a mk1 gearbox)
