172 oil filter question?

I got a oil filter few months ago from a shop. The part number is: 7700873583

I know 172's oil filter part number is 7700274177

But they both look exactly the same. Will the 1st one work?

I actually got a non-reno one before from the same shop. And I thought they would give me the same one. Never thought they would have the Reno one. But since I don't have the part number with me, I just got it.

It'll be fine. Renault seem to like to randomly change part numbers, there'll probably be a minute difference somewhere.

Renault now sell oil filters for the 172 made by a different company, I think thats why its changed. They are also shorter than the older ones.

Normally they have all the M20 thread.
I use the 7700720978 on my 1,6 16V, that has been also used for the R25 V6 Turbo, only double length but the rest fits perfectly an I can put in 0,1l more oil....

I know the last oil filter I had for mine had gone up in price slightly and it was shorter!

Sorry, I did compare with the standard 172 MK2 one. I just found that the both box's part number are different. But the number on the filter itself are same.
