172 Passenger Seat Not Locking

The passenger seat on my MK2 172 is not locking in place. So it is just sliding about which is very annoying. Every time you come to a stop it wants to slide to the end of the rails which means I keep having to grab it. Anybody have any idea how to fix this?

in the left hand rail (actually in it) is a clip that clips on to a latch, check that its not loose, its connected to a cable that is at the top of the seat, just work the handle a bit, it may free it up.
