172 Ph1 Heater Blower fix

  172 phase 1
Fault : I had no blower at all on any speed selection.
There was a 30A fuse in engine bay box that was blown - replaced still no heater fan...
So I took the whole blower out and discovered a blocked drain hole & lots of water underneath, so cleaned this out and dried it all out.
With the fan selector on max, I metered 12v going to the motor (metered at relay pack), I wiggled the 2 way connector going to bottom of fan module (red & black wires) & it would work with connector at a certain angle. I thought it was just a corroded connector, but alas no!
In the end I removed the motor from the housing, removed the brush springs, & fixing washer & prised the metal top motor housing off with a flat blade screwdriver (carefully!) I discovered that the spade connectors for the motor are connected to two coils, and due to corrosion from sitting water this connection had failed (water is probably why the fuse had blown too), so cleaned the connection up with isopropyl alcohol & sand paper, soldered the connections and reassembled. Quite fiddly and getting the motor housing back on was a pain, as you have to lever out the metal motor housing fixings back into place the but all fixed and all it cost me was time!!
All I needed were screwdrivers, flat & pozi, a 6mm socket wrench, torx driver and a soldering iron.
Job done!
Thankfully i have full speed adjustment so the resistor pack must be ok too, happy days!
