172 Rear Arch Liners

Does anyone know what would cause the inside of my tyres to rub slightly on the rear arch liners on my 2002 172? Also, the car has got standard wheels, correct size tyres, and has not been lowered.

Hi

I have the same problem.

I have a completely standard 2001 (Y plate) 172 with the Oz wheels that came as standard.

No lowering, no bigger wheels or tyres.

The rear left wheel rubs on the inner lining of the arch and makes a humming noise, there is an obvious mark where it has been rubbing on the lining and the inner wall of the tyre noticably heats up but there is no obvious damage to the tyre itself. The other side is fine.

The gap between the inner side wall and the arch liner is different between the left and right sides (i can easily slip my hand between it on the right side but not the left). I tried the spare incase the tyre was warped, but exactly the same problem.

Suspension doesnt seem to be any different in height between the sides.

Any ideas any1?

Cheers

Mine had the same issue - when I took it to Rentech Mike said it's just a common problem with them. Something to do with the arch liner sitting proud of where it should be.

I think it's a simple fix.....

Thank god for that,

I was starting to worry about if the suspension arms or chassis was somehow bent. Going to the garage at the w/e to have a look anyway.

Thanks for your reply.
