172 rear discs and pads £££££

Cars in for 24k service today, just got a call from the service manager.....

"Your rear pads are 95% worn and so are your discs. We can get the discs for you today from leicster. The price is £330"

So I politely told him to put an advisory on the service sheet and I'll get them sorted myself.

What I want to know is what are people paying for the rear discs/pads, fitted?

How much are the parts?

I paid circa £400 for a full set of new BBPT grooved discs and Pagid fast road pads all round with 2x new rear bearings pre-pressed into the rear discs.

So £330 is a bit steep then. lol.

Will try my local F1 place for a quote when I pick it up.

You can get the rear discs and bearings for £150 and the pads are £20. Hope this helps

apparently theres no real need to put uprated pads and discs on the back - so i read on here anyways.

Cheers guys... I wasn't intending too. TBH I'm surprised I need new discs AND pads on the rear after just 24k..... although I am a bit heavy on the brakes sometimes.

Pads possible but it sounds a bit early to me, discs unless lipped or corroded sounds very early at 24k. I did my front discs (no need but i got them cheap) and pads on my 172 when it hit about 20k. But then i just point the car through and use the force rather than the brakes lol.

I have been told to expect this from reno on my 24k service too eventhough I have had mine checked and there is loads left on them so may well be worth getting a second opinion ??

IIRC i paid £80 for my front discs and £1 for my front pads, both genuine parts from a renault main dealer.
