172 rev limiter

Does anyone elses 172 virtually stop reving once it hits around 6750rpm?

Its just that i was driving yesturday and as soon as i hit 6750rpm the car seemed to give in?

The rev limiter comes in early at about 6750rpm if the car is not fully warmed up, so do NOT thrash it when cold.

Once up to temp its 7250rpm in 1st, 2nd & 3rd and 7000rpm in 4th & 5th

ah well, sounds like a good setup:cool:

Dont panic Pete, its just the markings on the rev counter are different between our 2 cars for some reason.

Your limiter will still be the same as mine!

yep its at 6800 for ages then goes to 7200 or thereabouts. And if you turn it off and then on it does the same even its warm - i think im sure it does anyway......

Yes Simon, youre right - its really annoying when youve been driving for half an hour, stop for petrol, then get back in your car and accelerate away only to bounce off the rev limiter at 6750ish, when 5 minutes earlier you could go beyond 7000 easily. The french are silly sods.
