172 service in Grt Manc

  TDI tyre shreader

Alright guys, my car is getting on for its 12K service (11930) and i was woundering which renault garage you guys recomend in the greater manchester area. I went to the Bolton garage (home town) when i was looking to buy my car and the dealer put me off that place!! Also my car is an import, so an import friendly garage would be good also!!

Cheers, Iain

None. Theyre all sh*t. Especially Bolton where I bought my last car from.

Id stick with an independant (especially since youre no longer required to have it done at a dealership)

I can recommend Riverside IRS in Stockport. Theyre top blokes and after 1 visit I will never get any Renault I ever own serviced anywhere else as long as theyre still in business.

Thats my point mate. You no longer need to have warranty work done at a dealership. The law has been changed.

As a result of the scrapping of block exemption they can no longer hold you to this requirement. They are also now bound to supply training and specialist tools to any garage/mechanic that wishes to undertake warranty work on their products.

Theoretically this means you could take your car to a auxhall garage, if you knew of one that would be prepared to do the work. Clearly a Renault specialist would be.

So the garage u mentioned can carry out warrenty work and supply ecu software upgrades? if so i am sold!!

In fairness if you do go to a dealer, Id plump for Manchester. They did the warranty work on my dci and didnt break anything.

They did however try to tell me that it needed new discs (warped) and new pads(80% worn)

I said no thankfully. The discs werent warped and when I went to change the pads found theyre only 50% worn.
