172 shift light or what it is

my mk1 172 doesnt have one!?

last nite done 2nd to 7200 rpm and 3rd to 7000 odd and no light came on or anything tried a few times!

I thought they were only fitted to mk2s??

but im sure in a post the otherday some one mentioned it on there mk1 and said its in a better position on the mk1

no idea

i think the light that could be that light might now be used for my cliford alarm!?

Late mk1s and mk2s have them but its more of a change gear this hurts light.

mine must f**king love the revs then



i think its time for a hill power ecu and another 500rpm!!!!!

Its the early MK1s that have them. I think its from when they switched to putting the 2nd lambda sensor on that they gear change light ceased. I had a very early W-reg mk1 172 with the light functioning and 1 sensor.

the shift light is a wee green gear stick and gaitor and is at the far left hand side, look out for it when you turn on the ignition
