172 springs question!!!

  SchwepTek™
My mate has a 172FF and needs to know if 172/182/cup springs will fit???

He currently has -40mm springs on it and moans that the ride is too harsh!

So can anyone recommend what he should do other than coilovers. Would standard springs be best option???

Cheers guys.

He needs Some Eibach springs. Either Proline or sportline. The handling is a massive improvement over standard but the ride quality is not affected. (if anything, its improved!)

Get them from the link above.

I used to have them on my old 172 but got rid cos i wanted lower. The ride is superb (not crashy/bouncy etc) and the body roll in the corners is dramatically reduced.

The only downside is they only lower the car 15/20 mm max, despite the manufacturers claims.

you have Crap aftermarket springs that are not matched to the Standard dampers.

just trust me, Eibachs (or indeed standard) are the way forward.

Unless you want to spend £500 + on some coilovers.

anyone who says apex are too crashy are women. I had apex on my 172, with cobra monaco S buckets, and spripped out interior, and it was fine!

I have the same set up on my track car dan and imo, they're fine!!

(not as fine as the H&R's waitng to go on!!)

ive put up with them for 2 years so dont notice it as much ,

plus it looks to good to get rid of

cheers chaps i will have a ponder on that 1

Can I just highjack this thread? If I was to get lowering springs (say -25mm) is there any other changes I have to/should be making to my setup, or can they go straight on with no other adjustments?

Also, on your link Dan I can't seem to find Eibach springs. Can find Spax, Pi and Apex, but not Eibach. Am I blind?

Cheers,

Greg
