172 steering shake when accelerating....HELP

  clio 172
Hi guys, over the last few days my 172 2004 has started shaking when accelerating, first of all I did think it was wheels need balanced so I've had that done and no change....so I've had it apart and there is a bit of play wi the hub so could it be wheel bearing or ball joint and driveshaft? Anyone else had this problem? Help!!

Another thing it could be (search my threads) is Diff in the gearbox.

I tried everything and in the end bit the bullet an stuck a new box in.

Yep I had the same problem as J.
Albeit a very rare problem. You'll probably be ok!

Definitely driveshaft.

Mine started in on the way to a Trackday years back, was gutted.

I shall tell you my symptoms and possibly J's symptoms of the diff failure.
My personal problem was, I had no vibration/shake below 40mph. No matter how I was accelerating. As soon as I got to 45mph under full load the car would shake. If I was just steady/cruising above that speed. I had no problems at all. As it got got worse. I could also hear it grinding at certain times. I hope this isn't the problem for you. As it isn't the cheapest thing to sort out
