Hello im looking at buying a 172.How well do these engine respond to tuning mod ie breather, manifold, cat back. Help would be apreciated seeing as i know nothing about these engines and am new to the forum. Cheers

mine was RR at 173bhp as standard and 146lb/ft of torque. fitted the following to reach 188bhp and 160lbft of torque

Clio 182 exhaust manifold
KTR decat pipe 2.5"
KTR Stealth cat back 2.5"
AngelWorks matched inlet manifold with PTFE gaskets
ITG pannel Filter

Your one of the lucky ones then, Normaly RR at something silly like 150ish

Sounds more like a generous RR TBH.

Was done at the same RR when it was standard and modified..

on the same day a standard trophy was RR'd at 180bhp, standard 172s were ranging from 165 to 170bhp

Not very well.

they respond well to breathing mods, then hit the brick wall for easy gains, the same with any N/A engine.
