172Mk2 Non Cup Owners - Next Car Is

Just curious, anyone with a full fat 172 Mk2, At this time whats your thoughts on next car ?
Ive done 21k now, Bought new Nov 2003.

Wont be changing until early next year at the earliest, Not sure if Ill want to pickup one of the last 182 Cups that may be left (going cheap) wait until new Clio RS, wait until new Clio RS cup or equivalent model or even something non Renault.

Did 33k in my 172 Mk2. Part exchanged for a new V6 last October. New Clio RS is going to be a very long wait.

Tuff one, im just looking at a change in the next couple of months

Ive looked at: Alfa 147 GTA - Scooby - Focus RS, its tuff because to better the performance you need to spend a hell of a lot more than the 172 is worth if you choose to stick with a nearly new car!

havent got a 172, but i would consider clio v6, alfa 147 GTA, or spend £10k on the 172

im thinking maybe re-sale value of my 172 is gonna take a big big drop when new RS is out as it will be 2 RS versions behind current, therefore reckon I should get shut arround easter time, prob private sale too to save some £
Id still need circa £5k for a new 182 Cup, new RS maybe £8k

182 Cup looking good at the mo, trouble is I am only interested in new or nearly new (6 months old max) so stuff like Scoobies etc is not an option even though I could get a good one for sub £14k

your in the same sorta position as me, i dont wanna spend more than 15k and i dont really want a car older that 12 months.

but i want a car better than my clio and i think for that kinda money its a very difficult task.

so for the time being i am more than happy with my clio, i think ive just got into the habit of changing my car every 12 months.

Homer jay - that is exactly how i feel! ive looked at loads of motors and the only one that fits that bracket is a type R - but i would miss all the extras that the clio has and the civic doesnt mainly Xenons

Leon Cupra R
Focus RS
Civic Type R
Impreza WRX

but none really catch my attention...

expensive but worth it if you buy new with warranty etc tis an awesome car
