182 alarm help

Car  57 Ibiza Formula Sport
why does my alarm bleep 3 times sometimes when i lock the car and walk away, yet others it doesnt?

It's the ECU thinking the car is still on, it's a common problem...the code is RS+15 that Renault need to be able to fix it under warrenty.

Sure you haven't got something trapped in the door like a seatbelt? It did that to me when I did that once. Although, I'm not exactly sure how many times it beeped but it did. But if it's constantly happening I doubt it's that!

nah there's nothing stuck in the door. i thought at first it was cos i was leaving it in gear, but ive since done that and it hasnt bleeped so god knows! only does it like once every 6 times

You'll find that if you are slow getting out of the car it doesn't do it and it doesn't do it when the boot is open & closed as well.

Mines done it once since owning it but that seemed to be because I shut the door and almost instantly locked it.

This question comes up all the time

http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=108782

Another common problem is when you lock the car the alarm beeps 2 or 3 times.
Reason: The alarm system has received a signal from the vehicle ECU that the ignition is 'on' causing the alarm to beep. This signal is only received by the alarm for 3 to 4 seconds, after this time has elapsed the alarm stops beeping.

Solution: It can only be resolved at a Renault dealer. Ask the dealer to contact the 'Renault alarm help line' and quote reference
'RS+15'.

Mines done it once or twice since I've owned it, usually if I lock the car really quickly after closing the door.

Sorry to bring up an old post, but mine does this 75% of the time locking it, unless I leave it 30 seconds or more. I understand you can take it to Renault to sort, but does it actually matter at all? ie Is the alarm armed even though it's beeped? As if it is I shall leave it.

Thanks.

Edde, does it actually matter?!? Is it doing any harm?!?

I know you like to try and get people to spend two months wages at Renault, but that wasn't my question lol.
